Amano Algae Eating Shrimp

Japonica Shrimp, or Amano Shrimp, are great algae eaters and terrific in community tanks. These shrimp are among the most popular at AquariumFish.com and grow to about 2 inches and develop a light blue color.

The great planted tank pioneer Takashi Amano brought these fish to the aquarium hobby, and eventually the shrimp acquired his name for their own. 

Amano shrimp are wild caught in the highlands of Taiwan. Fortunately we also have a breeder in Taiwan to supplement our inventory during monsoon season.
