These are not true altum angels of Colombia, Scalare altum, as they do not get the massive elongated dorsal fins, but they are much hardier and adaptable to the aquarium. Also called the red spotted angelfish, this wild variety comes from Peru and will get red markings on the fins and rust spots on the body. Like the true Altum, these angelfish have a pointed snout and long dorsal fins.
